Yoder of Sugarcreek, who was killed in a fatal collision involving his electric bicycle and two vehicles early Wednesday morning, March 4, 2026. The Circumstances of the Accident
According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 5:06 a.m. along State Route 39, just east of Township Road 420. Authorities report that Yoder was riding a Delsol electric bicycle westbound along the berm of the highway. While attempting to make a left turn into the driveway of Sharon Mennonite Church, his bicycle entered the path of a westbound Jeep Wrangler.
The Jeep was being driven by 27-year-old Anthony S. Parson of Stone Creek, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Yoder, taking precautions, had a reflective vest and an operable rear flashing light on his bicycle. Despite these safety measures, the bicycle struck the passenger side of the Jeep, resulting in fatal injuries to Yoder.
After the impact, Parson was able to safely bring his vehicle to a stop on the south berm of State Route 39, facing eastbound. He immediately exited the Jeep to check on Yoder, who was lying in the eastbound lane. Emergency responders were dispatched, but despite efforts to save him, Yoder succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
