According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred at approximately 5:06 a.m. Jason Yoder was riding a Delsol electric bicycle westbound on the berm of SR 39. While attempting a left-hand turn into the driveway of Sharon Mennonite Church, his bicycle entered the path of a westbound 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The bicycle collided with the passenger side of the vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries.
Investigators reported that Yoder was wearing a reflective vest and had an operable rear flashing light on his bicycle, emphasizing his adherence to safety precautions. The driver of the Jeep, 27-year-old Anthony S. Parson of Stone Creek, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders were dispatched immediately, but despite life-saving efforts, Jason succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
