The community of Yuma is united in grief following the tragic and untimely passing of Cristoval George Ayala, 49, whose life was cut short in a devastating collision early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026. According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:15 a.m. to the area of Levee Easement Road and Avenue 2 1/2 E after receiving reports of a vehicle versus trailer crash. Preliminary investigations indicate that Cristoval was driving a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound along the north side of the levee road when his vehicle collided with the front of a parked trailer loaded with irrigation poles. The force of the impact proved fatal.
