According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance on February 27 after deputies responded to a residence in the 500 block of Sims Road at approximately 6:45 p.m. There, they discovered Malary deceased. Investigators reported that she suffered injuries consistent with homicide.

As the investigation unfolded, OSBI special agents identified a 13-year-old male as a person of interest. Authorities later determined that the teen had traveled south across the Oklahoma–Texas border, prompting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to issue an emergency alert. Multiple Texas agencies joined the search effort, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Denison Police Department, and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.

On February 28 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Grayson County deputies located the 13-year-old and took him into custody. According to OSBI, he is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility in Texas. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding this devastating loss.
