In Loving Memory: Archbold Woman Linda Rufenacht Dies in Fatal US Route 20 Crash Near Metamora
The Metamora, Ohio, community is mourning the tragic loss of 78-year-old Linda Rufenacht of Archbold, who died Monday afternoon in a fatal crash on US Route 20 near County Road 7 in Amboy Township, Fulton County. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:53 p.m. when a westbound 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Rufenacht, crossed left of center and collided head-on with a 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck traveling eastbound. The semi-truck was operated by 34-year-old Charles Rose of Wolcottville, Indiana. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but Rufenacht was pronounced deceased at the scene. Rose was uninjured. Officials confirmed that all occupants were wearing safety belts and that impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The collision required assistance from multiple agencies, including the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Metamora Amboy Fire Department. The roadway remained closed for approximately four hours while crews cleared the scene and conducted an investigation.
