In Loving Memory of Zoey Price
On the evening of February 24, 2026, the city of Atlanta was shaken by an act of senseless violence that claimed the life of a precious child. At approximately 9:49 p.m., gunfire erupted into a home on Tiger Flowers Drive NW, forever changing the lives of a family and leaving an entire community in mourning.
Inside that home was seven-year-old Zoey Price — a little girl whose life, though brief, was filled with promise, innocence, and boundless love. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Zoey and her mother suffering from gunshot wounds. In an urgent effort to save her life, officers rendered aid and transported Zoey directly to Grady Memorial Hospital. Despite their heroic and immediate actions, Zoey later succumbed to her injuries.
Her mother remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover physically — though the emotional wound left by this tragedy is one no parent should ever have to bear.
Zoey was only seven years old. At that tender age, life is meant to be filled with bedtime stories, laughter on playgrounds, bright backpacks, missing teeth, and dreams as big as the sky. Children her age are just beginning to discover who they are — artists, teachers, scientists, dancers, helpers, leaders. They are meant to feel safe in their homes, wrapped in the comfort of family. Zoey deserved that safety. She deserved tomorrow.
Instead, her life was taken in an act authorities believe stemmed from a dispute between two individuals roughly 30 minutes before the shooting. Investigators do not believe the incident was domestic in nature, nor that the suspect was a family member. According to Darren Schierbaum, the suspect came to the residence and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
In a firm and emotional message during a press conference, Chief Schierbaum addressed the person responsible directly: “You know who you are. If you’re watching this broadcast, turn yourself in, because we are going to come to your house, we are going to the restaurant, and we’re going to take you into custody.” His words echoed the heartbreak and resolve of a city unwilling to let Zoey’s death go unanswered.
The Atlanta Police Department has stated that they are actively pursuing strong leads. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward through Crime Stoppers, so that justice may be served and accountability brought to those responsible.
But beyond the investigation, beyond the press conferences and patrol lights, there is a grieving family. There is a bedroom that may still hold toys neatly arranged or pajamas folded at the foot of a bed. There may be school papers with bright colors and careful handwriting. There are likely favorite songs, favorite snacks, favorite jokes that only her mother knew. There is a silence now where laughter once lived.
Zoey Price was more than a headline. She was more than a statistic. She was a daughter. A child. A bright light in her mother’s world.
Her loss is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how deeply violence ripples through a community. When a child’s life is taken, it shakes the foundation of what we believe to be safe and sacred. It calls on neighbors to hold one another closer, to speak up, to protect the innocent, and to stand together against the cycles of harm that steal futures far too soon.
As we remember Zoey, we honor the joy she brought into the world during her seven short years. We honor her smile, her curiosity, her dreams. We lift her mother in prayer and strength as she faces the unimaginable — healing from her injuries while grieving her child.
May Zoey’s name never be forgotten.
May justice be pursued with unwavering determination.
And may her memory be a call for peace, protection, and compassion in every home and every neighborhood.
Rest gently, sweet Zoey. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those who love you.
