According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash near E. County 8th Street and S. Avenue 44 E. A 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, traveling westbound, failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and entered a canal. Though both occupants initially exited the vehicle, Missael was swept away by the current. Despite the rapid response and life-saving efforts of the Tri-Valley Fire District, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, but the focus now rests on honoring the life of a young man whose impact will endure far beyond this tragedy.
