🕊️ In Loving Memory of Mackenzie Lawrence, Brooklyn Stanley, and Adam Cornelison 🕊️
MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio — The Muskingum County community is grappling with an unimaginable loss following a devastating head-on crash on State Route 60 in Wayne Township, which claimed the lives of three young people whose presence brightened every room they entered. The victims — sisters Mackenzie Lawrence, 29, and Brooklyn Stanley, 22, of Newark, and 18-year-old Adam Cornelison of Duncan Falls — are remembered as compassionate, driven, and deeply committed to helping others.
The crash occurred on Saturday, and the community is still reeling from the sudden and heartbreaking tragedy.
Mackenzie Lawrence — Communications Graduate, Business Owner, and Wife
Mackenzie Lawrence was known not only for her professional accomplishments but also for the warmth and generosity she brought to her relationships. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bowling Green State University with a degree in communications. Beyond academics, Mackenzie pursued her passions, running her own business and dedicating herself to her marriage and family.
Her obituary highlights the impact she had on those around her, describing her as a devoted wife and a woman who approached life with both ambition and heart. Friends and family remember her as someone who could inspire others with her kindness, intellect, and unwavering support.
Brooklyn Stanley — Nurse, Athlete, and Dedicated Caregiver
Brooklyn Stanley’s life was marked by a devotion to helping others. A former athlete, she carried her drive and teamwork into the medical field, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her dream role in the Medical ICU at Mount Carmel East, where her commitment to patient care was evident from day one.
Her family and colleagues remember Brooklyn as a dedicated, intelligent, and empathetic caregiver whose presence brought comfort to everyone she encountered. She embodied service, compassion, and a tireless work ethic, making an indelible mark on both her patients and her community.
Adam Cornelison — A Senior with a Heart for Service
Adam Cornelison, 18, was a senior at Foxfire High School with a passion for giving back. He regularly volunteered with the local homeless population at Christ’s Table, showing a level of empathy and maturity beyond his years. Friends describe him as kind, loving, and caring — qualities that defined his character and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Jeremy Joseph, a longtime friend of Adam, recalled their last moments together before the accident:
“I clocked out at work, and the last thing I said to him was ‘good luck today,’ and that will always stick with me for quite some time.”
The Duncan Falls community honored Adam with a heartfelt celebration of life, releasing balloons in his memory as a tribute to his generosity and spirit.
Community Mourning and Memorials
The tragic loss of these three young lives has left a profound void in Muskingum County. Their funerals and memorials are a time for family, friends, and neighbors to gather, celebrate their lives, and remember the impact they had on the community.
Mackenzie Lawrence and Brooklyn Stanley will be laid to rest at St. Edward the Confessor Church on Saturday, February 21, at 10:30 a.m., with services reflecting the love and admiration of all who knew them. Memorial arrangements for Adam Cornelison have similarly provided the community a chance to honor his compassionate heart and enduring legacy.
A Legacy of Light
Though their lives were tragically cut short, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, and Adam leave behind a legacy of love, service, and inspiration. They were individuals who lifted others, brought joy and comfort to those around them, and embodied the values of dedication, kindness, and integrity.
In remembering them, the community holds tight to their stories, their laughter, and the countless moments they shared with loved ones. Their memory will continue to guide and inspire, a lasting reminder of the impact one life — and in this case three intertwined lives — can have on the world.
