In Loving Memory of
With broken hearts, we remember 21-year-old Harvey Dominy — a young man whose life was tragically cut short just hours into what was meant to be a joyful milestone: his very first lads’ holiday.
Harvey, from Merthyr Tydfil, had travelled to Benidorm in July 2024 with three close friends, excited for a week of sunshine, laughter, and unforgettable memories. It was meant to be a celebration of youth — a rite of passage shared by so many young men setting out to experience the world together.
Instead, it became a devastating tragedy.
An inquest held at Pontypridd Coroners’ Court before Coroner Kerrie Burge heard that Harvey was found dead in a budget hotel room shortly after arriving at the Spanish resort. Toxicology reports revealed cocaine, MDMA, and alcohol in his system. The combination proved fatal.
The court was told that after consuming alcohol and taking drugs, Harvey began struggling to breathe. His friends, Liam Mason and Levi Davies, later found him on the hotel room floor. Earlier that evening, videos had been shared showing Harvey slumped in a chair on the balcony, and later lying on the floor appearing “grey.” A final message sent read simply: “He’s gone.”
Those words now echo with unbearable finality.
But beyond the inquest details and courtroom testimony is the life of a young man who was deeply loved.
Harvey was only 21. An age filled with possibility. An age where dreams are still forming, where futures are wide open, where laughter comes easily and life feels endless. He had barely stepped into adulthood. There were birthdays yet to celebrate, adventures yet to take, milestones yet to reach.
For his family in Merthyr Tydfil, the pain is immeasurable. No parent expects to outlive their child. No family imagines that a holiday postcard moment will become a phone call that changes everything. Their grief is one that will not fade with headlines or time.
For his friends, what was meant to be a week of bonding will forever be marked by trauma and heartbreak. A trip that began with excitement ended in loss — a sobering reminder of how fragile life can be, especially when risks are underestimated.
Harvey’s passing also stands as a powerful and painful warning about the dangers of mixing substances. Alcohol and drugs can have unpredictable, deadly consequences — particularly when combined. What may feel like part of the party can quickly spiral into something irreversible.
Yet today, we choose to remember more than the circumstances.
We remember Harvey as a son, a friend, a young man full of energy and life. We remember the laughter he shared, the jokes he told, the loyalty he offered to those around him. We remember the excitement he must have felt boarding that plane, unaware that it would be his final journey.
To his family: may you find strength in one another and comfort in the love that surrounds you.
To his friends: may you carry his memory with tenderness and learn from the tragedy that none of you could have imagined.
Harvey Dominy’s life was brief, but it mattered. His story will not be forgotten.
Gone at 21.
Gone too soon.
Forever loved. 💔
