In Loving Memory of Dylan Severns
The Mount Vernon community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Dylan Severns, a 24-year-old resident whose life was tragically cut short on the evening of Saturday, February 14, 2026. Dylan, a young man known to his friends and family for his adventurous spirit and love of motorcycles, was involved in a fatal crash that has left a lasting void in the hearts of those who knew him.
According to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Dylan was operating his Kawasaki KX100 dirt bike northbound on Walnut Alley at approximately 10:53 p.m. When he approached the intersection of Walnut Alley and Sunset Street, Dylan went off the north side of the road and struck a utility pole guy wire. Emergency responders, including Mount Vernon Fire/EMS, rushed him to Knox Community Hospital, but despite their efforts, Dylan succumbed to his injuries.
