In Loving Memory of Charles Ables
The community of Colona is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 30-year-old Charles Ables, whose body was discovered in the Green River on February 23.
According to the Henry County Coroner’s Office, Charles’ body was recovered Monday afternoon. An autopsy is being conducted in Peoria as officials work to determine the official cause and manner of death. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek clarity surrounding the circumstances of his passing.
Earlier that morning, at approximately 10:56 a.m., officers with the Colona Police Department responded to a report of a loose dog at Nancy Trailer Court in Colona. While attempting to locate the dog’s owner in an area where he was known to stay, officers observed a body in the nearby river and called for assistance with recovery efforts.
While the details of the discovery are difficult to process, those who knew Charles remember him not for the circumstances of his passing, but for the life he lived.
