In Loving Memory of Andrew Wolford — Altoona Community Mourns Young Life Lost in Tragic Interstate Crash

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Blair County community mourns the tragic loss of Andrew Wolford, a 23-year-old from Altoona, whose life was abruptly cut short in a devastating crash early Saturday morning along Interstate 99 near mile marker 54. His passing has left family, friends, and the community grappling with grief over a young life taken far too soon.

According to authorities, emergency crews were dispatched around 4 a.m. following reports of a multi-vehicle collision involving a Honda Civic and a previously disabled vehicle. The crash triggered a chain reaction, scattering vehicles across the interstate and temporarily closing the highway at Exit 61 in Port Matilda. Investigators reported that Andrew, who was the operator of the disabled vehicle, was walking across the interstate at the time of the collision and was not inside his car when it was struck.

Blair County Coroner Ray Benton confirmed that Andrew Wolford died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Windber as the Pennsylvania State Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Beyond the tragic events of that morning, Andrew Wolford was a cherished son, brother, friend, and member of the Altoona community. Those who knew him remember a young man full of energy, warmth, and potential — someone whose presence brought joy, laughter, and kindness to every interaction. His sudden loss leaves a profound void in the lives of family and friends, who are now left to honor his memory and hold close the moments they shared.

While the investigation continues, the focus remains on remembering Andrew for the person he was: a young man of character, compassion, and promise. His life, though tragically brief, made a lasting impact on those around him. Loved ones reflect on the joy he brought, the smiles he inspired, and the friendships he nurtured, ensuring that his memory will endure far beyond this heartbreaking moment.

May Andrew Wolford rest in eternal peace, and may his family, friends, and the Blair County community find comfort, strength, and solace in the enduring memories of a life cut far too short but forever cherished.
