The Parish community, LaPlace, Louisiana is grieving the tragic loss of Trey Johnson, 32, whose life was cut short in a violent act early Sunday morning, February 15, 2026. His passing has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken and searching for comfort in the wake of this devastating event.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at 12:45 a.m. on the 1900 block of North Sugar Ridge Drive after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Trey Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Ochsner Medical Complex, where medical staff worked tirelessly to save him. Tragically, despite their best efforts, Trey was pronounced dead.

Another victim, a 39-year-old man, was also shot in the incident and transported to Ochsner by private vehicle. Fortunately, he survived, but the community remains shaken by the violence and its aftermath.

The investigation swiftly led authorities to identify Andrew Brown, 33, also of LaPlace, as the suspect in this tragedy. Brown was arrested later that evening at approximately 9:30 p.m. and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. He is currently being held in the parish jail with bond set at $1.25 million.

Trey Johnson was more than a victim of violence; he was a cherished member of his community. Friends and family remember him for his kindness, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.
