GADSDEN, Ala. — The community of Gadsden is mourning the tragic loss of Kathy N. Hamilton, 65, of Elkmont, whose life was abruptly and tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, February 15, 2026. Her passing has left family, friends, and neighbors grieving a profound loss that has shaken the community.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred around 6 a.m. along Riverview Drive near Tillison Road within Gadsden city limits in Etowah County. Hamilton was driving a 2000 GMC 1500 when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence, and entered a nearby pond. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but tragically, Kathy was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Also in the vehicle were two passengers, Hali B. Bridges, 30, and Chance B. Bridges, 29, who sustained injuries in the collision and were transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division responded to the scene and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials are reviewing roadway conditions, vehicle factors, and other relevant information to determine how the incident occurred.
