In Loving Memory of Josiph F. Losson — Springfield Mourns Life Tragically Cut Short
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the Springfield community mourns the tragic loss of Josiph F. Losson, a 27-year-old whose life was cut short on the evening of February 27, 2026. Josiph’s passing has left family, friends, and the broader community grappling with an unimaginable void, as those who loved him reflect on the life of a young man taken far too soon.
According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded around 6:38 p.m. to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in front of 725 E. Kearney Street in Springfield. Josiph was walking across Kearney Street when he was struck by a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and subsequently hit by a second vehicle, a 2001 Lexus IS. Authorities noted that he was not using a crosswalk at the time of the incident. Despite the immediate response and efforts of emergency personnel, Josiph was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
While the investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing, the focus today is on the life Josiph lived rather than the tragedy of his passing. At just 27 years old, Josiph had a lifetime of possibilities ahead — dreams yet to be realized, goals in progress, and countless moments yet to be experienced. His life was one of connection, laughter, and meaningful relationships that left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Josiph was more than the events of that evening. He was a son, a devoted family member, and a cherished friend. His presence brought warmth, companionship, and joy to those around him. Friends and loved ones remember his kindness, his humor, and the way he could light up a room with his personality. The memories shared — from everyday moments to special occasions — will now serve as a lasting testament to the meaningful life he led.
Though Josiph’s time on earth ended far too soon, his legacy lives on in the hearts of family, friends, and community members who were touched by his spirit. The profound sense of loss is tempered only by the enduring memories and the love he shared so freely.
May Josiph F. Losson rest in eternal peace, and may his family, friends, and community find strength, comfort, and solace in remembering the life of a man who mattered so deeply.
