In Loving Memory of Bonnie Bouffard — A Life of Strength, Laughter, and Kindness Remembered

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we remember and honor the life of Bonnie Bouffard, whose life was tragically taken in Broward County, Florida, during a devastating chain of events that no family should ever have to endure.

On Thursday, what began as an ordinary day ended in unimaginable heartbreak. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a multi-agency pursuit unfolded along the Florida Turnpike after 52-year-old Anna Giza allegedly fled from law enforcement in a stolen truck. The pursuit reportedly began in Deerfield Beach and escalated after the suspect collided with patrol vehicles from Coconut Creek Police and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase came to a violent end near the Sunrise Boulevard exit when deputies executed a PIT maneuver in an attempt to stop the stolen vehicle. In the chaos that followed, the truck struck a black Nissan Altima driven by 70-year-old Bonnie Bouffard. The impact claimed her life.

But Bonnie was far more than a victim in a tragic incident. She was a vibrant, resilient woman whose life was defined by strength, warmth, and an unmistakable spark of humor.

A proud breast cancer survivor, Bonnie embodied perseverance. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, inspiring those around her with her determination and optimism. Survival was not simply something that happened to her — it was something she fought for. And after overcoming such a monumental battle, she continued to live with gratitude, joy, and a deep appreciation for each day.

Bonnie worked in a billing department, where she was known not just as a dependable employee but as the heart of the workplace. Friends and coworkers describe her as witty, sarcastic in the most endearing way, and always ready with a clever remark that could turn even the most stressful day into one filled with laughter. She had a gift for lifting spirits.

As her coworker Tara Lee shared in an emotional reflection, they had all left work together that day — unaware that it would be the last time they would see her. That simple, ordinary moment has now become sacred in memory.

Bonnie’s presence extended far beyond her job. She was a friend who showed up, a colleague who cared, and a woman whose resilience left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Her laughter echoed in hallways. Her kindness softened difficult days. Her strength inspired quiet admiration.

Her passing also brings renewed attention to the broader impact of high-speed pursuits and the innocent lives caught in their wake. In just two weeks, this marked the second fatal crash connected to a law enforcement chase in the area — a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can change.

Yet today, we do not focus solely on the tragedy. We focus on Bonnie.

We remember a woman who survived cancer. A woman who found humor in everyday moments. A woman who worked hard, loved deeply, and deserved many more sunsets, many more shared laughs, and many more tomorrows.

To her family, friends, and coworkers — may you find comfort in knowing that Bonnie’s life mattered profoundly. Her story does not end with the tragedy of one afternoon. It continues in every memory shared, every story told, and every life she touched with her unmistakable spirit.

May her strength continue to inspire.

May her laughter continue to echo.

May her memory forever be a blessing.

Rest in peace, Bonnie Bouffard. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
