In Loving Memory of William Bussey III — Cherishing the Life of a Beloved Mays Landing Resident Lost Too Soon
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we honor the life of William Bussey III, whose journey was tragically cut short in the early hours of Saturday, February 28, 2026. The communities of Mays Landing and the Township of Hamilton are mourning the loss of a man whose presence touched the lives of family, friends, and all who knew him. William’s sudden passing has left a void that words can scarcely convey, yet his memory endures in the hearts of those who loved him.
At approximately 12:37 a.m., officers from the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 40 and Strand Avenue. What they found was a heartbreaking scene: William, 41, of Mays Landing, was traveling eastbound in his 2015 Cadillac XTS when he tragically lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway, crossed onto the westbound shoulder, and struck a series of trees before coming to a final resting point. William sustained severe traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Authorities worked meticulously through the night to document the crash site, keeping Route 40 closed for approximately three hours. Their efforts were supported by a coordinated response from the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Mays Landing Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, Laureldale Fire Department, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Their swift, professional, and compassionate response reflected the seriousness of the incident and the shared commitment to understanding how such a devastating loss occurred.
Yet beyond the details of the accident, William Bussey III was a man whose life cannot be defined solely by tragedy. He was a son, a friend, and a cherished member of his community — someone who carried himself with kindness, integrity, and a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Friends and loved ones remember him as a compassionate, reliable, and devoted individual, always willing to lend a helping hand, share a laugh, or offer support when needed.
William’s life, full of love, connection, and purpose, serves as a reminder of how precious every moment is. At 41, he had so much more to give, so many more memories to create, and so many lives to continue touching. His passing is a stark and sorrowful reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of cherishing those we hold dear.
As family and friends navigate the profound grief of this loss, they are surrounded by a community of support, prayer, and remembrance. The stories shared, the memories recounted, and the love that endures are all part of the lasting legacy William leaves behind.
Though William Bussey III’s time with us was far too short, his spirit, warmth, and the impact of his life will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in knowing that he will always be remembered with love, honor, and gratitude.
