LAKE COUNTY, Ind. — The Lake County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 20-year-old Rylee Hanson, who tragically lost her life early Saturday morning in a head-on collision on Interstate 65. The devastating crash also left another woman critically injured and has shaken the local community to its core.
According to the Indiana State Police, the collision occurred around 1:50 a.m. near the 256.4 mile-marker in the northbound lanes, just north of 61st Avenue. Preliminary reports indicate that a silver 2022 Toyota was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a black 2016 Ford that was correctly traveling northbound.
Rylee Hanson, a resident of Hobart, Indiana, and formerly of Demotte, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lake County Coroner. Her untimely passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
